The purpose of this channel is promote knowledge and education in construction. Here in the US, many of us don’t have any formal training or education in construction, but we learn through experience. My goal with this page is to promote learning and to that end I will show what I’ve learned over the years. I want to be very clear, what I show here is just a starting point. I am not claiming the tricks and methods I use are the best way to do any one thing, but rather are the end result of 20+ years of refinement with many more years to go.
What I hope is that you as the reader/viewer will have an open mind and be willing to share your suggestions. Let’s all view ourselves as learners first, teachers second. Then all of us will progress together.

EXPERT TIPS| Continuous Insulation
Idiot proof continuous insulation. Zip R Sheathing panels, part of the Zip System Sheathing family. These panels combine structural sheathing (water resistive barrier + air control layer) with polyisocyanurate foam insulation. Building science made easy.

Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like UA-cam if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.com/secure/245841/checkout/1320802/bundle-remote-pilot-plus-maneuvers?affcode=245841_0eauthdo&coupon_code=FRAMERS100 I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

We all know Schmidt made that show. “MA CALLED. THE BEES ARE BACK”!
That plate is AWESOME where do you get one????????
Great looking product. A lot of comments here from people who don't know how good modern synthetic rubber and adhesives have gotten. A tight and seamless pressure fit like this is best practice for sealing any joint, and not just on pipes, either. Rubber gaskets are used in cars, airplanes, and rockets too. And manufacturers can make the adhesive area as thick and wide as they want so it will never fail. This gasket here is over-built and might last 100 years when kept out of the sun by the exterior siding. Thank you for sharing the demo!
Why are builders obsessed with cutting time, do it right and charge for it, American construction is become a sham. Learn from Germany and quit cutting corners just bc someone doesn’t explicitly tell you.
You missed the point here. No corners are being cut, properly installed hangers don't squeak. The glue is code, nor required by the hardware manufacturer.
Great video. You should be part of the build show. Easy to watch, even the crappy singing to INXS. 😂😅😂😅😅😂😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Amazing humility man. You're right, things just happen sometimes. We have to have the emotional intelligence in how we handle it
So, who was at fault? And did you get paid on the back side?
Everbody rr them rake walls myself included
Stagger always. Router is a good idea!
Is that a hoseless teico gun? Please send the link! I need that asap!
When I understand what the heck you just said then I'm ready to build my house
Seems like a lot of extra work than just plant em when you pour the concrete
I wanna know what bit they are using and how many they run through on each job and also what speed that dewalt is set to?!
Put it on a metal scraper so u don’t have to bend over 🤣
Like this....?ua-cam.com/users/shorts7ibaaGTexxo?feature=shared
Great information on the use of these panels and the energy conservation involved. I will rewatch just to reinforce my understanding. Great video
Thank you for joining in
Here in the Caribbean all lumber is PT, everything. And most of our residential framing is done with 3x not 2x. Good fun.
Brilliantly done. But it always amazes me how uninteresting a space becomes when it’s covered in plaster board. Framing is so beautiful by comparison
*laughs in Amish*
What kind of pencil/marker are you using? I see all the cool kids using them, I'm still using all the flat pencils we used to get from lumber yards.
the Pica Big, XL or Large, I forget what its called
Laminated plans! AWESOME!
Maybe you would've gotten it right the first time if you were building instead of playing.
Many greetings from Germany, the quality of the work is great
Here’s a sheathing tip. Offset your joints. Makes the wall way stronger.
It actually doesn't. Read the video description for links.
I’m willing to bet $500 that when this residence is complete, if we did a UA target calculation and compared it to the UA factor of the entire building envelope, R402.1.4 would show that continuous insulation was completely unnecessary to meet code. That’s not to say it’s not a great product. It’s just not required in most cases.
Love to see you building with Steve and love these videos.
Great work! Would love to see how you cut the ridge, With the long cut
I'm partial to the drywall clips. No backing.
A makida track with a Milwaukee saw, anyone know if a bosch will also work on multiple teacks?
Did you tape it?
instagram.com/reel/C6RVQN3L-q6/?igsh=MXZzYXl2ZjlpbGR3OQ==
All that xtra work for a 3/4" sag in 21 feet?
Maybe I'm wrong but, a screw jack post would have worked best. Wait, you have plumbing basically on the outside of the home that isn't insulated?
Thanks for sharing this and ruining grabbing your arse when the boss isn't around lol
Too fast! Sounds kinda like a Martian
Do you guys use ring shank nails for framing, floor and roof sheathing… 16d to 8d nails?
Imagine getting stuck in that machine while it’s on😂
Anyone who called you lazy for using that brilliant scraper attachment, well, they're just silly. Cool vid
You never shear a wall until there up and everything is plumb you learn that within your first month of framing
Well Jimmy, you are incorrect. A square wall on a level surface is by definition plumb. Those who truly understand the principles of framing can save a lot time, as demonstrated here. Best not to limit yourself.
All fun and games speed nailing hangers until you miss a nail and it flies in your face.
Just a tip: I think you missed the opportunity here to show us the amount of sag with a laserline en afterwards in the same way proving you fixed it. There is no way of telling that you did after you took away the 6x6...
John Travolta plays a pretty good bad guy in Broken Arrow wasn't too bad in Face Off with Nicholas Cage but my personal favorite was Ladder 49
We do this all the time 😂😂😂😂
So did it work?
Is that 3rd lvl sufficient. Maybe a fitch plate also?
Oh man I almost fast-forwarded at that Low T joke 😂
“B T Dubs” 😂😂😂
Those Fasco nailers look awesome.
He taught them to do that good kob
Got start with the corner. Piece and them lay the bottom tape.
Great video…made a ton of sense. I’m just a homeowner but I’m trying to educate myself on this stuff so thanks! 👍
